County TeaFriday July 26th 2019 will, I’m sure, be remembered for some time as the day we truly celebrated the continuing wellbeing of our Association.

Proposed initially in late 2017 as a ‘hoped for’ possibility, it was suggested by two Members of the Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells Branch: Richard Maylam and John Richman. These were the early days of the then new Management Committee which was making sufficient progress to be able to think seemingly far into the future and consider what might be an appropriate way to mark the hoped for outcome.  Several venues were suggested and investigated, finally settling on a garden party at Hadlow Manor as the best option.  It was decided to promote an ‘Afternoon Tea’ style lunch with some form of entertainment, as a treat to add to the celebrations.

Come the day, Strolling Magicians, a Jazz Group and a Classical Harpist did us proud, by wonderfully entertaining the 140 assembled Members and guests.  Added to this the excellent ‘High Tea’ and a general aura of ‘togetherness’, prompted many members to take the opportunity of moving out into the late afternoon sunshine for a very pleasant end to the day.   An informal gathering, foregoing speeches or a ‘top table’ resulted in an almost idyllic atmosphere.

Thanks to the above mentioned gentlemen along with Bernard Thompson (also of TTW Branch) and several others who worked ‘behind the scenes’ to make this a very special occasion. In addition, sincere thanks to all Members for their support over recent times in helping to keep the Association alive and well, and for providing a reason to celebrate!
